As a mark of solemn respect for the victims of the terrorist attacks perpetrated on September 11, 2001, on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed in Pennsylvania, the President has proclaimed that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff on September 11, 2026.
By a joint resolution approved 12/18/2001, (Public Law 107-89), September 11th of each year has been designated as “Patriot Day” which also directs that flags be lowered to half-staff for the entire day on September 11.
