BJU Seminary is pleased to announce the installation of a complete Torah scroll, generously donated by Logos Bible software. The ancient scroll will be dedicated during a ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. in the rotunda of the BJU Seminary building.
The scroll contains the first five books of the Hebrew Bible. Despite its age, the scroll remains in excellent condition. The Torah is 98.11 feet long and was handwritten on g’vil, an unsplit calfskin, by a single scribe. It was produced in accordance with the oldest and most conservative Yemenite (Teimani) scribal tradition. The scroll is believed to have arrived in Israel during the mid-twentieth century, where it was sold and became part of a collection. The donor acquired the scroll from this collection in 2018 and has now donated the scroll to BJU Seminary.

The dedication ceremony will last for approximately 30 minutes and include light refreshments, an opportunity to view the scroll, and brief remarks from Neal Cushman, BJU President Bruce McAllister, a Logos representative, and BJU Seminary faculty member Ken Casillas.
Immediately following the ceremony, the scroll will be on display for viewing. Afterwards, it will be installed in a wooden display case handcrafted by former BJU Seminary faculty member Dr. Earl Nutz.
