GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 13, 2016) – Victoria Stevens, a senior early childhood education major at Bob Jones University, serves as a student teacher for Pelham Elementary School.
Stevens, a resident of Greenville, is gaining hands-on experience in planning, teaching and assessing lessons on a variety of subjects such as math, English, language arts, science, social studies and reading.
“Each day is so much more than just teaching a lesson, giving an assessment and recording grades down on paper,” says Stevens. “Every day, I get to observe classroom management, discipline methods, and strategies for engaging learners from a skilled teacher and then I get to try those same strategies and methods myself. Clinical practice is a learning curve, just like teaching for the rest of my life will be, but I count it a privilege to teach the five year old artists, engineers and doctors of the next generation.”
