Greenville, S.C. (December 2, 2013) – U.S. Senator Tim Scott spoke to an overflow crowd of nearly 500 Bob Jones Academy seventh through twelfth grade students today as he gave his personal testimony during a school assembly.

Scott told the students his personal relationship with Jesus Christ is the most important thing to him and that it shapes everything he does in life and politics. Throughout his presentation, he recounted the importance of following Jesus in their daily lives.

Much of Scott’s talk centered on some of the wrong choices he made throughout his life and how God used circumstances and people to point him back to Christ. He talked fondly of his mother’s love and prayers for him and the influence of a Chick-fil-A owner who mentored him throughout high school.

“Our students enjoyed hearing from Senator Scott and asking him a number of questions about life, football and public service,” said Dr. Dan Nelson, principal of BJA. “I believe it’s the first time we’ve had the privilege of a sitting U.S. Senator speaking in an assembly to our students.”
