Thirteen BJU Graphic Design Students Win AAF Awards

GREENVILLE, S.C. (February 26, 2018) – Thirteen Bob Jones University graphic design students were presented awards by the American Advertising Federation (AAF) Greenville at the annual AAF Gala Saturday, Feb. 24.

The American Advertising Awards Competition is a three-tiered national competition conducted annually by AAF and is the largest and most representative competition for both professional and student creative excellence in the advertising industry.

The BJU students receiving AAF awards include:

  • Brigitta Daswani (Tai Wan, Hong Kong) – Gold award, Illustration
  • Jennifer Hudson (Lilburn, Georgia) – Gold award, Publication Design (Book Cover), and silver award, Integrated Brand Identity Campaign
  • Abigail Marasigan (Greer, South Carolina) – Gold award, Animation, and silver award, Business-to-Business Campaign
  • Dayan Shin (Greenville, South Carolina) – Gold award, Animation, and silver award, Stationery Package
  • Lauren Skrade (Taylors, South Carolina) – Gold award, Integrated Brand Identity Campaign, and silver awards, Logo Design and Editorial Design
  • Brian Biggs (Greenville, South Carolina) – Silver award, Editorial Design
  • Philip Brown (Greenville, South Carolina) – Silver awards, Illustration (Single and Campaign)
  • Lauren Foushee (Roswell, Georgia) – Silver award, Package Design
  • Cristina Kielmeyer (Simpsonville, South Carolina) – Silver awards, Integrated Brand Identity Campaign and Editorial Design
  • Curtis Potvin (Grayson, Georgia) – Silver award, Integrated Brand Identity Campaign
  • Sarah Stewart (Greenville, South Carolina) – Silver award, Integrated Brand Identity Campaign
  • Briseydi Velasco (Sandwich, Illinois) – Silver award, Publication Design (Book Cover)
  • Grace Wong (Hayward, California) – Silver award, Stationery Package

“It is exciting and rewarding to see our current students and graduates recognized for their excellence in design and advertising,” says Jay Bopp, associate professor and chair of BJU’s Division of Art and Design. “We count it a privilege to work with such talented and dedicated students, and their success in school and beyond provide confirmation that we’re on the right track.”

In addition, several BJU graduates won a variety of awards in the professional division, many of them winning multiple awards. The prestigious AAF Silver Medal was awarded to BJU alumnus David McQuaid for his lifetime service to the Greenville advertising industry.
