Senator Tim Scott to Headline Presidential Leadership Series at Bob Jones University

GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 8, 2014) – National conservative leader and U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) will headline the Presidential Leadership Series at Bob Jones University Tues., April 22 at 7 p.m. in the Founder’s Memorial Amphitorium (FMA) on the BJU campus.

“We are delighted to host nationally-known speakers like Senator Scott at BJU who can inform and challenge our students,” said Dr. Stephen Jones, president of BJU. “Scott is nationally recognized as a conservative leader on tax reform, school choice, religious liberty and expanding opportunities for all citizens. I look forward to having our students and members of the Greenville community join us for Scott’s address.”

Scott was appointed by Governor Nikki Haley to fill the unexpired term of former U.S. Senator Jim DeMint in Dec. 2012. Prior to his appointment to the U.S. Senate, Scott served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, the South Carolina House of Representatives and Charleston County Council.

Scott will speak about his personal background and how God used his mother and a godly mentor to encourage him to unleash his potential. He will be challenging listeners to unleash their own potential to make a difference in the world. He will take questions following his remarks.

The event is free and open to the public. Doors to the FMA will open at 6:30 p.m. Parking is available in the parking garage located directly behind Rodeheaver Auditorium as well as on campus streets.
