Pettit: Selecting the right college is a challenging and most important decision. When I talk with young people about college, one of the things I encourage them to do is to ask themselves this question: what are the graduates accomplishing?

I’m here at BJU’s Alumni office to talk to you about a few of our grads. Over 8,500 BJU grads are currently in ministry around the globe. This includes pastors, missionaries, evangelists, Christian schoolteachers, winning souls to Christ and teaching and discipling believers. Nearly 400 others are preparing for ministry by pursuing advanced degrees in our Seminary.

Our Fine Arts and Communications grads hold faculty positions at over 100 universities and colleges, and at least 200 have authored books.

In the area of science, 100% of 2014 premed graduates applying to medical school were accepted.

Our engineering students average a 95% pass rate on the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, and our nursing students regularly exceed national pass rates on their capstone exam.

And in the School of Business, 84% of our 2014 accounting students had a job or were accepted into grad school before graduating.

Numerous grads are serving in county and state governments, the U.S. Congress, and one as a state governor.

And with regards to advanced degrees, thousands of our grads have earned master’s and doctoral degrees at other schools. Our Fine Arts grads have been accepted in 250 different graduate schools and conservatories. We have grads studying at Oxford and the Harvard Business School and one recently graduated from Yale Law School.

These are only a few, but it gives you an idea of the quality of the BJU graduates who are succeeding in their ministries and professions and their pursuit of advanced degrees. In fact, the 2014 ETC College Rankings Index ranked BJU the 15th Best Value College in the nation.

And so, what are you looking for in a school? I think the proof is in what’s happening here at Bob Jones University. So, come on. Check us out. Come to our campus, visit the website. BJU may be the place where God would have you prepare to serve Him.
