Greenville, S.C. (January 23, 2014) – United States Postal Inspector Phil Carter will be the featured speaker for the Bob Jones University Criminal Justice Association Jan. 27 at 6:30 p.m. in Levinson Hall on the BJU campus.

Carter, a career-long member of the South Carolina law enforcement community, has served as Postal Inspector in Greenville since March 2007. In this capacity, Inspector Carter leads the USPIS Upstate Financial Crime Task Force, coordinating members from a wide array of city, county, and federal departments and offices. The task force focuses on financial and mail-related crimes across the Upstate and seeks to identify and convict ringleaders in these attempts to defraud the public.

During Carter’s second year of task force leadership, his group was able to secure more than 50 federal arrests and recouped $750,000 for fraud victims.

In addition, Carter’s Task Force has made tremendous contributions to the efficacy and efficiency of city police departments and county sheriffs’ offices that had been swamped by these conspiracies operating across jurisdiction boundaries.

Members of the community are encouraged to attend.
