Noah Smith, a senior business administration major from Muncy, Pennsylvania, spent the summer serving as an area manager intern at Amazon’s DFH7 distribution center in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

During his internship, Smith gained firsthand experience in warehouse operations by learning the responsibilities of multiple positions throughout the facility. He assisted and coached associates, supported managers in daily operations and worked with team members from a variety of backgrounds. The experience provided a practical look at leadership, communication and the operational processes that keep a large distribution center running efficiently.

“My internship at Amazon helped me grow in problem-solving skills, leadership and communication,” said Smith. “It showed me the importance of being a manager and being able to help the associates, be quick to adapt, easy to approach, while still being firm and able to get the job done. I also learned about the vital need to learn about technology and learn how to use AI in the workplace. This entire internship helped me know that I want a career that involves working with people.”
