Jane Farr, a senior premed/predent major at Bob Jones University, recently completed a Student Medical Internship, gaining hands-on exposure to a variety of medical specialties through clinical shadowing and simulation experiences.

Farr, a native of Annapolis, Maryland, completed 44 hours of shadowing physicians with Prisma Health and Spartanburg Regional Hospital System in Greenville, South Carolina. Her experience included time in emergency medicine, family medicine, general surgery, radiology, sports medicine and internal medicine. In addition to clinical observation, Farr participated in simulation labs at Bob Jones University, further developing her understanding of patient care and medical decision-making.

“I am very thankful for the opportunity to get a closer look at some of the different roles that physicians play, both in acute and in long-term care settings,” Farr said. “Observing clinical decision-making and patient care in person has strengthened my desire to serve patients in this way as a future physician.”

Through this internship, Farr gained a broader perspective on the responsibilities of physicians and the collaborative nature of healthcare, equipping her for future study and service in the medical field.
