GREENVILLE, S.C. (August 13, 2015) – Brandon Ironside will join the Bob Jones University faculty this fall as an assistant professor in the Division of Music in the School of Fine Arts and Communication at BJU. Ironside previously served as a teaching assistant at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and as an applied music violin instructor at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute in Hudson, North Carolina.
“We are thrilled to have Brandon Ironside joining the string faculty here at BJU, said Dr. Darren Lawson, dean of the School of Fine Arts and Communication. “He is nearing completion of his DMA in violin performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and has been playing with the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra. His expertise and experience will greatly benefit our music students.”
Ironside earned a BMus in Violin Performance (2009) from McGill University’s Schulich School of Music in Montreal, Québec, Canada, and a MMus in Violin Performance (2011) from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. He is a DMA candidate at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
He has been a string apprentice, clinician, violin instructor and orchestral coach in a number of venues including the MasterWorks Festival in Winona Lake, Indiana, Guildford County Schools in Greensboro, North Carolina, Biltmore Preparatory Academy in Phoenix, Arizona, Gilbert Unified School District in Gilbert, Arizona, as well as a private and group instructor in his own studio, Ironside Music Studio.
Ironside has also performed recitals and presented master classes, presentations and workshops with the Ironside Duo and the Hendiatris Trio in Arizona, North Carolina and South Carolina. Some of his notable appearances in the Carolinas include events at Clemson University, Dorman High School in Roebuck, South Carolina, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Weaver Academy for Performing and Visual Arts in Greensboro, North Carolina, and the Durham Arts Academy in Durham, North Carolina.
Additionally, his work with major symphony orchestras, including collegiate orchestras, and opera companies include performances with the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, Winston-Salem Symphony, Fayetteville Symphony, Greensboro Opera Company, Greensboro Light Opera and Song, Bel Canto Company, Aspen Music Festival, University of North Carolina at Greensboro Orchestra, Arizona State University Orchestra and the McGill University Symphony Orchestra.
