Genesis Gonzalez, a health sciences major from Jacksonville, North Carolina, spent her summer interning with the Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Unit at the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office in Jacksonville.
During her internship, Gonzalez had the opportunity to learn the skills required of investigators, assist at crime scenes, and write reports. Through hands-on experience with the CSI unit, she gained valuable insight into forensic investigations while developing her written communication, critical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork skills.
“Interning with the CSI unit was a valuable experience as I worked with investigators and helped my community,” said Gonzalez. “I had the opportunity to improve my written communication, critical/problem-solving skills and teamwork. Forensics has always been an interest and, Lord-willing, I plan to continue working toward that goal.”
Gonzalez will be a senior this fall and plans to continue pursuing opportunities in the field of forensics as she prepares for her future career.
