GREENVILLE, S.C. (January 23, 2015) – Dr. Sam Horn, who was named Vice President for Ministerial Advancement by BJU President Steve Pettit last October, officially joined the Bob Jones University administration this week. In addition to his vice presidential responsibilities, Horn will begin serving as Dean of the Seminary and School of Religion at the end of the current academic year in May.

Prior to serving at BJU, Horn was president of Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Plymouth, Minnesota. He has also served in administrative roles and on the faculty of Central Baptist Theological Seminary, Northland International University and BJU.

“I am excited to be at BJU working with the incredible faculty to ensure our ministerial training—at both the undergraduate and graduate level—is second to none,” said Horn. “I look forward to serving with Dr. Steve Hankins and Dr. Royce Short—and the entire Seminary and School of Religion faculty—as we seek to train the next generation of young people to serve Jesus Christ in local churches and ministries around the world.”

In addition to his academic experience, Horn brings extensive pastoral experience having served in various roles from youth pastor to senior pastor at churches in Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Horn earned a BA in Bible in 1986, a MA in Bible in 1988, and a PhD in New Testament Interpretation in 1995—all from BJU—and a DMin from The Master’s Seminary in 2007.

Horn, and his wife, Beth, have two children. Robert is a freshman at BJU majoring in Bible and Ashton is in elementary school.
