Monday, September 9–Thursday, September 26, Exhibition Corridor, Sargent Art Building

This exhibition displays works from the BJU Permanent Art Collection as well as selected ornamental woodturnings by former BJU faculty member Dr. Amos Wipf.

Friday, September 13, 5:00 p.m., War Memorial Chapel

Bruce Cox, head of BJU’s instrumental studies department, will present a recital of works from the standard trumpet repertoire.

Saturday, September 14, 7:00 p.m., War Memorial Chapel

The annual Musical Mission Team welcome home concert, “Remembering His Blessings,” will present a selection for each of the countries and languages where the team traveled. Come and hear how the Lord blessed our ministry.

Friday, September 20, 5:00 p.m., Stratton Hall

Dr. Karen Wilson of the music faculty will present a lecture on Wagner and Verdi.

Saturday, September 21, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., Stratton Hall

Distinguished Lecturers in Piano Performance & Pedagogy presents “Bartók’s For Children: Unraveling the Mysteries of the Editions” with Victoria Fischer Faw. Professor Fischer Faw is an award-winning international authority in the music of Béla Bartók and a 1990 winner of the Bartók-Kabalevsky International Piano Competition. She will perform selections from For Children, Sz. 42 (Volumes I and II). Glean from her insights at the forefront of Bartók research highlighting folk song and dance origins, performance practices, editions, and rare Bartók photos and recordings. Definitive edition scores will be available for purchase. The event is sponsored by Majesty Music; admission is free and open to the public.

Saturday, September 21, 7:00 p.m., War Memorial Chapel

The first of two programs will be presented celebrating the two-hundredth anniversary of Wagner’s and Verdi’s births. This program will include a Verdi piano trio, a Wagner lieder, and a Verdi string quartet.
