The 2026 Vintage is dedicated to Dr. David Fisher, BJU provost and executive vice president. With service spanning BJU Press, Bob Jones Academy and Bob Jones University, Fisher will complete 48 years of faithful ministry to the institution at the conclusion of the 2025–26 academic year.

Throughout his ministry at Bob Jones University, Fisher has remained faithful to his Christian profession and has consistently encouraged others toward love and good works. Having served across the institutions of BJU Press, BJA and BJU, his career reflects a long-standing commitment to Christian education.

Born and raised on the BJU campus, Fisher followed his parents into Christian education, earning a BS in social studies education. While pursuing a master’s degree in church history, he served as a graduate assistant teaching History of Civilization discussion classes.

Fisher joined BJU Press in 1980 as a textbook author and later supervised the Photo Acquisition Department while serving on curriculum committees for junior high and high school history programs. After completing his PhD in church history, his dissertation was published as World History for Christian Schools. He later authored two additional textbooks, including one with Dr. Edward Panosian and Dr. Mark Sidwell, and taught History of Civilization through nationwide live satellite courses.

In 1985, Fisher joined the Bob Jones Academy faculty, teaching United States and world history, geography and American government. Known for his care for students, he sought to encourage growth inside and outside the classroom. In 1999, Fisher became high school principal, overseeing initiatives such as increased enrollment of day students, construction of the Markham Center and a fine arts celebration marking the Academy’s 75th anniversary. During this time, he also served on the executive board of the South Carolina Association of Christian Schools.

Fisher became provost of Bob Jones University in 2005, leading efforts involving curriculum development, hiring practices, budgeting and facilities. He chaired the Academic Integrity Committee and served as lead faculty advisor for The Collegian, including during the student newspaper’s transition to a primarily digital format. Alongside his administrative work, Fisher continued presenting at educational conferences on history and leadership in Christian education.

For more than 20 years, Fisher has led European study tours focused on the Protestant Reformation. Notable trips included the Reformation’s 500th anniversary tour and a 2019 tour commemorating the 75th anniversary of D‑Day. These experiences have included students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the University.

In 2025, BJU President Dr. Bruce McAllister appointed Fisher as provost and executive vice president, where he oversees academic affairs and assists with select operational decisions.

Fisher and his wife, Rachel, his high school sweetheart, have been married nearly 50 years and have two sons and one daughter.

For his long service to Bob Jones University and commitment to its mission, The Vintage staff dedicated the 2026 Vintage to Dr. David Fisher.
