GREENVILLE, S.C. (August 31, 2017) – William Craven, a 2017 graduate of Bob Jones University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Cinema Production, recently won numerous awards for his senior film project, Grounded, at the Christian Film Festival in Newport News, Virginia.
Held on the last Saturday of each month, the Christian Film Festival (CFF) showcases Christian movies, music videos, cartoons, documentaries, educational films, and scripts, and recognizes the creators of those projects.
“BJU cinema students have been consistently recognized for their quality work at film festivals, and we’re so pleased that William Craven’s film was awarded so many accolades at the Christian Film Festival,” said Dr. Darren Lawson, dean of the School of Fine Arts and Communication at BJU. “We look forward to training many more young filmmakers to serve Christ with their visual storytelling.”
Craven, a resident of Greenville, won Best Short Film, Best Student Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Actor Supporting, Best Actress Supporting, Best Hair & Make-Up, and Best Music. Grounded was also named as an official selection for the 2017 Endless Mountains Film Festival and the TRIFF 2017 – Tryon International Film Festival.
Grounded tells the story of Jim, a missions aviator, who unexpectedly finds himself stateside after his wife falls ill with an unknown sickness. Jim takes a job as a flight instructor at a local airfield, but his heart and mind continually drift back to Africa. Jim struggles to accept God’s will because he knows that means letting go of his dream.
