On Feb. 2, 2019, Beneth Peters Jones, 81, wife of Bob Jones University chancellor and former president Dr. Bob Jones III, went to be with the Lord. Mrs. Jones served at Bob Jones University 58 years, including 34 years as the wife of the third university president.

Mrs. Jones’ contributions to the University’s cultural mission as actor and director span over 50 years. In addition to directing major productions, she portrayed leading roles in plays, feature-length films and Vespers and Living Gallery programs.

Mrs. Jones had an extensive ministry to women. She was a frequent speaker at women’s conferences and seminars around the globe, and for years authored and recorded the popular radio program, Sunshine on the Soapsuds. She is the author of 13 books, each focused on helping women in a unique aspect of their Christian walk.

God’s power and grace were clearly seen in her life, and she will be greatly missed by the Bob Jones University community.

Mrs. Jones’ viewing was held from 3–8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, in War Memorial Chapel on the Bob Jones University campus at 1700 Wade Hampton Boulevard in Greenville, South Carolina.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, in Founder’s Memorial Amphitorium on the BJU campus. Interment immediately followed the service at the grave site in front of Rodeheaver Auditorium. Watch both HERE.
