GREENVILLE, S.C. (June 1, 2016) – Lauren Watts, a senior biochemistry and molecular biology major at Bob Jones University, is serving as an intern with the BJU Chemistry Department in a combined effort with Cayman Chemical located in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Watts, a resident of Greenville, South Carolina, is working alongside another intern to target the two-step synthesis of an enzyme inhibitor. Watts’ responsibilities include significant laboratory work as well as the review of any corresponding scientific literature. The internship will conclude with a final report and presentation of the project’s results.

“Interning with BJU and Cayman Chemical gives me the opportunity to get involved in biomedical research and learn laboratory techniques,” says Watts. “These skills will be of great importance to a future research career.”
