Bratana Rutledge, a sophomore culinary arts major from Jerome, Idaho, is spending the summer serving at Pioneer Bible Camp in Eden, Utah, where she helps prepare and cook three meals a day for campers and staff.
In addition to meal preparation, Rutledge assists with cleaning and readying the camp facilities for new groups each week. Because she works with a different kitchen crew each week, she also helps answer questions and trains volunteers on kitchen procedures and responsibilities.
“This internship has helped me become more confident in my cooking and taught me how to work well under pressure,” said Rutledge. “It has shown me that I enjoy serving others through food and that every task, even the small ones, matters. It has helped me grow both personally and professionally and prepared me for my future goal of becoming a private chef.”
