GREENVILLE, S.C. (January 11, 2024) – Bob Jones University students, faculty and staff will participate in the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Monday, Jan. 15.

“In the spirit of the man it honors, MLK Day has been designated as a day for serving the community. BJU students are encouraged to “Reach Beyond Themselves” by assisting organizations around Greenville,” said Dr. Mark Vowels, director of the BJU Center for Global Opportunities. “Our student’s willingness to volunteer on a day off from class demonstrates their love and appreciation for our neighbors.”

Assisted by the CGO, student leaders from the Community Service Council help plan the outreach efforts and coordinate the day’s activities. Each year, they provide hundreds of volunteer hours to local organizations. Participants will be cleaning facilities, organizing supplies, revitalizing homes, preparing and delivering meals, facilitating a food giveaway and painting youth classrooms.

This year, students will serve at multiple locations across Greenville County including Cultivate Sports, Home Works of America, Meals on Wheels, Miracle Hill Thrift Stores, Palmetto Baptist Church and the Upstate Circle of Friends.
