Bob Jones University students, faculty and staff will participate in the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Monday, Jan. 19. No classes will be held and administrative offices will be closed.

“Martin Luther King Jr. Day gives our student body a day off from classes and an opportunity to serve in the community at the start of the spring semester,” said Courtney Montgomery, director of public relations at BJU. “The Center for Global Opportunities continues to build strong connections with Upstate partners, creating avenues for our students to step in and meet real needs. We’re proud to see them invest in the community and serve with purpose.”

Assisted by the CGO, student leaders from the Community Service Council help plan the outreach efforts and coordinate the day’s activities. Each year, they provide hundreds of volunteer hours to local organizations. Participants will be cleaning facilities, organizing donations, revitalizing homes, preparing and delivering meals, landscaping and painting.

Students will serve at multiple locations across Greenville County including Bootprint- Serving Veterans & Families, Camp Spearhead, Cultivate Sports, Miracle Hill Overcomer Center, Miracle Hill Thrift Store, Ronald McDonald House, The Good Mail Project, Veterans are Heroes SC and Upstate Circle of Friends.
