GREENVILLE, S.C. (March 5, 2019) – Bob Jones University presents Titanic: The Musical March 14-16 at 8 p.m. in Rodeheaver Auditorium.
The musical, winner of five Tony Awards including best musical and best score, pairs grand production values with intimate stories of the passengers and crew of the ship of dreams.
“The sinking of the Titanic on April 15, 1912, is forever forged in our memories as one of the most significant disasters of the 20th century. A total of 1,517 men, women, and children lost their lives in the icy waters of the Atlantic,” says Dr. Darren Lawson, dean of the School of Fine Arts and Communication. “Its builders boasted that Titanic was an unsinkable ship, which made the loss of life even more tragically ironic.”
The production features professional guest artists Brandon Hendrickson, Tony Mowatt, Tim McDevitt, Caitlin Mesiano, Patrick Dunn and Cabiria Jacobsen. The 65-member cast also includes BJU faculty staff, and students. The cast is accompanied by a 26-person orchestra under the baton of Dr. Michael Moore, music director for the production and chair of the Division of Music.
Artifacts from the Titanic Museum, including band leader Wallace Hartley’s leather music portfolio, are on display in Rodeheaver Lobby until March 18. Tickets are $36-$45 for adults. Tickets are available at Programs and Productions Monday-Friday, 12–5 p.m. or by calling (864) 770-1372.
