Greenville, S.C. (July 25, 2023) – Chairman of the BJU Education Group Board of Trustees Dr. Gary Weier recently announced Steve Dickinson—who has been serving as Bob Jones University’s vice president for business and finance—will become CEO of BJU Press, effective immediately. Concurrently, John Monczewski will assume the role of chief financial officer for BJU Education Group and Bob Jones University, which will remain separate entities.

After graduating with an accounting degree from Bob Jones University in 1988, Dickinson worked in the finance industry eventually, becoming vice president of global finance reporting for InterContinental Group PLC in the United Kingdom.

From 2006 – 2017, he served as executive director of finance and operations and then CFO of BJU Press. For several years, he was instrumental in expanding the company’s footprint in China and Southeast Asia.

In 2018, Dickinson became CFO of BJU, Inc. and later vice president of business and finance. His return to BJU Press marks the completion of the leadership succession plan announced in October 2020.

John Monczewski (‘85) joined BJU Press in August 2022. A graduate of BJU with a BS in accounting, John brings to BJUEG and BJU, Inc. over 35 years of experience in financial management, including financial planning, global reporting, and business transformation. He is a proven strategic leader with the ability to couple business strategy, process improvement and technology enablement to deliver sustaining value. Before joining BJU Press, Monczewski held senior leadership roles at Bolthouse Farms, Boston Consulting Group, General Dynamics, and Booz Allen.

“We thank Bill Apelian, former BJU Press president, and Dawn Apelian, former executive director of marketing and publishing, for their years of service to BJU Press—25 years and 46 years respectively—and are grateful for their many contributions to its exponential growth, particularly throughout the pandemic and beyond,” said Dickinson. “Their combined vision and leadership has helped make BJU Press what it is today—a leader in K-12 educational content that is biblically integrated and academically rigorous and supported with materials and tools that make classroom teachers and homeschooling successful.”
