Steve Pettit on Holy Land Tour

Steve Pettit: We have been leading tours for a number of years. I think this is my 12th trip to the land of Israel. And we take a full trip—actually the last few years, we’ve had a waiting list of people who’ve wanted to go. And it is a life changing experience to spend time in the land where Jesus walked.

What is it about it that I like the most? It’s being in Israel. There’s no place like it on planet Earth. People often ask me, What’s your favorite place you’ve been to? And without a doubt it’s always Israel, and it’s a toss up between the Old City of Jerusalem and the Sea of Galilee. To be in the place where Jesus lived, to walk the steps that He walked, to contemplate the Scriptures and then to be able to see it. The Bible says that my eye affects my heart, and when I see things, I’m moved as I come to a greater comprehension of God’s Word. So, that’s really what we’re so excited about. If you’ve never considered going, I would really recommend that you do that.

Some people look at it as a luxury. I look at it as an investment because why would somebody want to take the time and the money to spend to go there? Because when you read the Scriptures after going to Israel, you never read them the same again. You see things and comprehend things like you never would before. And so it is a life changing trip.

Probably my favorite place, I guess, in the whole trip, is to go to the Garden Tomb and to be in the location where Jesus died on the cross and then to rise from the dead and to walk into that tomb and to recognize that He is not there, but He is risen.

So, consider one day you taking a trip to the Holy Land, and we would love for you to come with us from Bob Jones University.
