GREENVILLE, S.C. (September 8, 2017) – Paula Watts will serve as Instructor in the Division of Teacher Education in the School of Education at Bob Jones University this fall. Watts previously served as a transition advisor in BJU’s Academic Resource Center and part-time instructor in the School of Education.
“Paula brings to our programs not just an understanding of technology but the practical integration of that technology within the teaching of content,” said Dr. Brian Carruthers, dean of the School of Education. “Her enthusiasm for using technology to enhance the teaching skills of our candidates will definitely prepare them for future opportunities.”
Watts earned a BS in Art Education (K-12) and an MED in Teaching and Learning from BJU in 2009 and 2011, respectively.
In addition to her work at BJU, Watts previously served as a technology specialist educator at Beck Academy in Greenville, where she taught Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) to sixth through eighth grade students.
Watts also served as an instructor at Marshall University and as an art educator at Huntington High School and Enslow Middle School in Huntington, West Virginia.
Watts is a member of the Americans for the Arts, Arts Education Partnership, Huntington Museum of Art and the West Virginia Art Education Association. She has given presentations for the South Carolina Association of Christian Schools, Greenville County Schools, Cabell County Schools (Huntington, West Virginia), and the Museum and Gallery at Heritage Green in Greenville.
“I am excited to teach educational technology in the Division of Teacher Education at BJU,” said Watts. “Technology impacts learning and our ability to educate others, and this is a unique opportunity to share the tools of educational technology with the next generation of educators.”
Watts’ husband, Dr. Jeremy Watts, serves as Division Chair of the Division of Teacher Education in the School of Education.
