Sonya Heath Serves as Intern for SAFE Homes

GREENVILLE, S.C. (March 10, 2016) – Sonya Heath, a junior criminal justice major at Bob Jones University, serves as an intern for the SAFE Homes Rape Crisis Coalition in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Heath, a resident of Greenville, works with clients and advocates, prepares for federal inspections, and does hands-on work in the SAFE Home shelters.

SAFE Homes-Rape Crisis Coalition provides services to victims of domestic violence in Spartanburg, Cherokee and Union Counties and victims of sexual assault in Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties. Their mission is to address the impact of domestic and sexual violence by providing services to those affected and to create social change through education, training, and activism.

“This internship has given me a clear idea of what I want to do,” said Heath. “I’ve always thought that I wanted to work with the Defense Security Service, but this experience has confirmed that desire for me.”
