GREENVILLE, S.C. (July 22, 2016) – Sarah Ward, a senior biology major at Bob Jones University, is serving as an intern this summer for the Greenville Zoo in Greenville, South Carolina.

Ward, a resident of Volga, West Virginia, is studying the habitat usage of the zoo’s turtles and snakes using trackers. Ward is also helping to remove and dissect an invasive species of turtle that has taken over a lake to gather data on the species and limit the damage they do to a lake’s ecosystem.

“I appreciate the opportunity to learn how to use scientific equipment and take part in real-life research studies,” says Ward. “This summer is providing me with a lot of hands-on experience that just isn’t feasible in a classroom setting, and it’s very exciting to be able to expand and apply all the knowledge I’ve gained through my science classes at BJU.”
