GREENVILLE, S.C. (August 1, 2018) – Richard Wang, a junior biology major at Bob Jones University, participates this summer in MedEx Academy, a unique program that connects pre-health students with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine-Greenville and the Greenville Health System.
Wang, a resident of Luoyang, China, has the opportunity to practice clinical skills (e.g. ultrasound and intubation) with medical students, connect with peers who are also passionate about healthcare, learn about different specialties from doctors and participate in discussions and debates concerning medical ethics.
A valuable part of this program is participation in clinical rotations which facilitates observation of practicing physicians.
“This program allows me to explore the field of medicine and get hands-on experience in clinical skills and patient interaction. The discussions concerning medical ethics have been very thought provoking,” says Wang. “MedEx allows me to fully engage in a medical setting and have a holistic understanding of what it means to be a doctor.”
