GREENVILLE, S.C. (September 1, 2017) – Bob Jones University President Steve Pettit today appointed Randy Page, director of Public Relations, to the newly created position of Chief of Staff.
As Chief of Staff, Page is responsible for advising the president on policy and process issues, overseeing the management of the president’s office along with his schedule, representing the president to internal and external constituents, and overseeing the president’s priority projects. Page will retain his public relations and government relations responsibilities and will serve on the President’s Cabinet.
Prior to coming to BJU in 2013, Page served as president of South Carolinians for Responsible Government, one of the largest grassroots organizations in South Carolina, which lobbied state government for tuition tax credits for parents who homeschooled or sent their children to private schools.
He also served as director of public events for Governor David Beasley, legislative director for Lt. Governor Bob Peeler and chief of staff to Lt. Governor Andre Bauer.
In addition, Page has managed or consulted on numerous local, state and national election campaigns in South Carolina.
He serves on the boards of South Carolina Citizens for Life, the state affiliate of National Right to Life, and Palmetto Family Council, the state affiliate of Focus on the Family.
Page was awarded the state’s highest civilian award, The Order of the Palmetto, in 1998. Page was honored with the Distinguished Service Award by the Bob Jones University Alumni Association in 2006, the President’s Award by South Carolina Citizens for Life in 2013 and the Distinguished Service Award by the South Carolina Association of Christian Schools in 2015. He has also been listed in Marquis’ Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in American Politics.
Page was a delegate to the 2012 Republican National Convention, served on the RNC Platform Committee and as a member of the Electoral College. In 2016, he was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, and served on the RNC’s Credentials Committee. Page formerly served as Fourth Congressional District Chair, Second Congressional District Chair and currently serves as co-chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party’s Platform Committee and as a member of the Faith Engagement Committee for the SC GOP.
Page is a 1990 graduate of Bob Jones University. He and his wife, Melissa, are the parents of an adult daughter and seventeen-year-old son, and are active members of Faith Baptist Church in Taylors, South Carolina.
