GREENVILLE, S.C. (March 2, 2016) – Mikayla Upcott, a senior communication major at Bob Jones University, serves as an intern for the SC Mountains to Midlands Affiliate of Susan G. Komen in Greenville, South Carolina.
Upcott, a resident of Lincoln, Maine, assists with drafting and coordinating social media posts, organizing and taking inventory of merchandise, and keeping records of grant reviews.
Susan G. Komen provides breast cancer survivors and their families with critical services. This organization also serves by providing education on the importance of early detection, breast cancer risk factors and ways to manage risk as well as supporting over 2,000 needs-based community grants.
“This internship has given me the opportunity to learn about and serve a nationally recognized non-profit organization,” says Upcott. “I have spent the last several years studying the way communication-related fields work, and it is both exciting and informative to see what I have learned applied in action.”
