GREENVILLE, S.C. (September 5, 2017) – Dalila McCrum will serve as Assistant Professor of Teacher Education and the Early Childhood Education Program Coordinator in the School of Education at Bob Jones University in the fall. Previously, McCrum served as a first grade teacher at Pelham Road Elementary School and substitute teacher for Greenville County Schools.
“Dalila comes to us with a strong background in early childhood education,” said Dr. Brian Carruthers, dean of the School of Education. “Her passion for helping our teacher candidates in being prepared for a future ministry of working with children will be an incredible asset to our program.”
McCrum earned a BS in Early Childhood Education (2007) with a minor in dramatic production and an MS in Elementary Education (2008) from BJU and is certified in South Carolina in Early Childhood Education.
McCrum is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the South Carolina State Council of the International Reading Association (SCSCIRA), and the International Society for Technology Education (ISTE). She recently trained and partnered with Discovery Education to bring technology integration and 21st century teaching strategies into her classroom and has presented at the Upstate Technology Conference.
Outside of the classroom, McCrum is an active member of Morningside Baptist Church, serving both in the nursery and as a children’s Sunday school teacher.
“While teaching in a public elementary classroom, I had the privilege to mentor practicum and clinical teachers from BJU,” said McCrum. “I look forward to this new opportunity to continue encouraging educators of young children in this new role.”
McCrum’s husband, Larry, will serve this fall as Secondary Learning Resource Center faculty in the high school at Bob Jones Academy, where their two children, Priscilla and Lucas, will be attending.
