GREENVILLE, S.C. (October 31, 2016) –  Elliott Kelley, a junior business administration major at Bob Jones University, was elected Governor during the South Carolina Student Legislature (SCSL) fall session in Columbia, South Carolina, Oct. 26-28.

Kelley, a resident of Easley, South Carolina, will serve as Governor until next fall. He previously served as Chief of the Staff to the SCSL Governor.

In addition to being elected Governor, Kelley also won an award for the “Best Oral Argument” at the fall session. This award recognizes a delegate for excellent use of language skills, communication skills, and the art of advocacy in a presentation to the SCSL Supreme Court.

“Throughout his time in SCSL, Elliott has been a hard-working delegate dedicated to improving SCSL and making it a stronger program,” said Randy Page, advisor to the BJU delegation. “It was exciting to see his fellow delegates reward his hard work and elect him as Governor. I’m confident he’ll serve SCSL well.”

In addition to BJU, a number of public and private institutions of higher learning participate in SCSL including The Citadel, Charleston Southern University, Clemson University, Coastal Carolina University, College of Charleston, Erskine College, Francis Marion University, North Greenville University and Winthrop University.
