GREENVILLE, S.C. (November 11, 2021) – On Saturday, Nov. 13, flags at Bob Jones University will be at half-staff in honor of Mr. Fred Davis, a member of the BJU operational staff for 57 years. He went to be with the Lord Sunday, Nov. 7.

In 1954, he became kitchen manager and later served as director of Food Services for 22 years. He supervised the construction of the current dining common. In 1978, he became director of Ancillary Services overseeing the University’s non-academic departments, and his son, Tim, took over the dining common. He later served as head of Safety Services, as the Institutional Effectiveness Coordinator, and campus pastor.

Mr. Davis is remembered for mentoring students and employees and his resourcefulness in saving money while improving operational effectiveness and quality of service. The Davis Room is named for him and his son Tim who led the dining common for a combined 57 years.

His funeral will be held in War Memorial Chapel Saturday, Nov. 13, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a private graveside service.
