GREENVILLE, S.C. (August 5, 2014) – Dan Cruver, a 1994 graduate of Bob Jones University, was recently selected by U.S. Senator Tim Scott as a recipient of the 2014 Angels in Adoption Award. The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute’s (CCAI) Angels in Adoption™ Program honors individuals, couples, and organizations that have made extraordinary contributions on behalf of children in need of families.

The Angels in Adoption™ travel to Washington D.C. to participate in three days of events—all designed to train them in using their personal experience to affect change on behalf of children in need of homes and to celebrate their hard work and dedication to the issue.

Past recipients of this award include Korie and Willie Robertson, Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley, Ne-Yo, PEOPLE Magazine, Nia Vardalos, Scott Fujita, Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, First Lady Laura Bush, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Kristin Chenoweth, Rhea Perlman, Deborra-lee Furness, Bruce Willis, Al Roker, Muhammad Ali, Patti LaBelle, Jane Seymour, Henry Winkler, and CBS Studios.

Cruver serves as founder and director of Together for Adoption (T4A). Through T4A, he has organized regional, national, and international conferences. T4A’s national conference will be held in Greenville, South Carolina, this October. He and his wife, Dr. Melissa Cruver, are residents of Travelers Rest and have three children, two of whom are adopted.

Together for Adoption provides gospel-centered resources to mobilize the church toward orphan care. Cruver notes that, “The word ‘Adoption’ in our name does not refer to adopting children, but to the theological reality of our adoption in Christ.” Through his organization, he provides teaching, training, and resources to the local church on the theology of adoption as the proper foundation and motivation for orphan care ministry.

He has authored many articles and books, and is the primary author of Reclaiming Adoption: Missional Living Through the Rediscovery of Abba Father.
