GREENVILLE, S.C. (July 13, 2016) – Christian Walker, a junior biology major at Bob Jones University, is serving this summer as an intern for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources at the Walhalla State Fish Hatchery in Mountain Rest, South Carolina.

Walker, a resident of Greenville, South Carolina, is responsible for general fish care including feeding, sizing, and moving the fish, as well as collecting various data and samples including ammonia, dissolved oxygen, and fish counts. Walker also works with the microscopic examination for and treatment of various parasites and viruses present in three strains of trout.

“This internship has furthered my interest in ichthyology,” says Walker, “and encouraged me to pursue other internships dealing with other species of fish.”
