COLLEGIAN STAFF WINS SCPA AWARDS

GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 15, 2016) —Staff members for Bob Jones University’s student newspaper, The Collegian, were recognized with multiple awards by the South Carolina Press Association (SCPA) at the Collegiate Annual News Contest held in Aiken, South Carolina earlier this month. Both individual staff members and The Collegian staff in its entirety were honored.

 

The BJU students receiving individual SCPA awards include:

Dayun Shin (San Antonio, Texas) – First place, Specialty Page Design

Stephen Dysert (Allen Park, Michigan) – First place, Sports Photograph

Elizabeth Brown (Anniston, Alabama) – Second place, Specialty Page Design

Holly Diller (Van Wert, Ohio) – Second place, Photograph

Andrew Budgick (Tucson, Arizona) – Third place, Column Writer Portfolio

Bridget Nee (Plymouth, Massachusetts) – Third place, Editorial Writing

Kayla Pierce (Hillrose, Colorado) – Third place, Sports Photograph

 

In addition, The Collegian staff won third place in the General Excellence category.

 

The SCPA Collegiate News Contest recognizes the best in South Carolina collegiate journalism. Collegiate staff members compete against other colleges and universities in 26 different contests, including writing, design, photography, and illustration.
