BJU To Host Homecoming This Weekend

GREENVILLE, S.C. (October 19, 2015) — Bob Jones University will welcome alumni and friends from well over 30 states for homecoming Friday and Saturday, Oct. 23 and 24. Most events will take place on the university campus.

Friday evening’s activities will feature reunions for the classes of 1966, 1976, 1991, 1996 and 2006 at the TD Convention Center. Beginning at 9 p.m., students, alumni and community friends will come together for a student-led Bruin Nation Celebration in the Davis Field House. Admission is free.

Saturday’s events begin with the Bruin Nation 5K at 9 a.m. open to all students and alumni. . Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Make A Wish Foundation.

Throughout the day, there will be campus tours, open house events, art exhibits, scavenger hunts and mini-sports clinics for children, an autonomous robot demonstration and numerous affinity reunions for specific departments and organizations.

President Steve Pettit and administrators will update alumni on current university initiatives Saturday at 1 p.m. The event will include a question and answer session.

Intercollegiate soccer kicks off at 4 p.m. when the Bruins women’s soccer team faces off against Truett-McConnell College in Alumni Stadium, followed by a Bruin BBQ at the Activity Center at 5 p.m. At. 7 p.m. the men’s soccer team hosts Chowan University. During half-time festivities, the BJU Alumni Association will present the 2015 Alumnus of the Year award.

During the soccer matches, families can enjoy Bruin Village with inflatables, carnival type games, and Bruin photo opportunities. A food truck donated for the evening by Table 301 will be staffed by culinary arts students who will serve assorted treats.
