Greenville, S.C. (May 23, 2013) – Marie Bell, a rising college freshman who will attend Bob Jones University this fall, was recently selected as a 2013 GE-Reagan Foundation Scholar. Marie, of Hampton, GA, is one of only 20 exceptional leaders who received the honor from among more than 11,000 candidates across the country.

The GE-Reagan Foundation scholarship honors the legacy of our nation’s 40th president and provides $10,000 annually ─ up to $40,000 ─ toward the pursuit of a bachelor’s degree. Recipients are chosen based on their demonstration of exemplary leadership, drive, integrity and civic commitment.

As an award recipient, Marie will join the other 19 honorees for a Scholar’s Retreat in Simi Valley, Calif. on June 23-26 where they will tour the Ronald Reagan Library, engage with their peers and attend a formal awards ceremony.

In addition, Bob Jones University awarded Marie the BJU Legacy Scholarship and the Academic Excellence and Leadership Award.
