GREENVILLE, S.C. (November 27, 2017) – Bob Jones University invites the Greenville community to the annual Christmas Celebration Friday, Dec. 1, on the BJU campus.

“BJU’s annual Christmas Celebration is one of our most beloved traditions, and we hope many of our friends from the community will join us here on campus as we kick off the Christmas season,” said BJU President Steve Pettit.

BJU will host a variety of children’s activities from 3:30 – 6 p.m. including Christmas storytelling in Levinson Hall, gingerbread cookie decorating on Gallery Green, Christmas crafts in the Student Mall, reindeer games on front campus, and a Museum and Gallery scavenger hunt throughout the BJU campus.

Prior to the Lighting Ceremony which will begin at 6:30 p.m., the BJU Chamber Singers will present a Christmas concert from 5 – 6 p.m. in War Memorial Chapel. BJU’s Journalism and Mass Communication Department will present a live Christmas radio show in The Den from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., and resume after the lighting ceremony until 9:30 p.m.

The Hampton Park Christian School choir will perform a pre-lighting concert at 6 p.m. in front of Rodeheaver Auditorium. At 6:30, they will be joined by BJU’s University Singers to lead the crowd in singing well-loved carols and traditional Christmas music as the campus is lit with thousands of lights. President Pettit will read a selection of Scripture featuring the Christmas story and the program will conclude with additional Christmas carols. The ceremony will be webcast on the BJU website beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Following the Lighting Ceremony, the Nebraska Theatre Caravan will present “A Christmas Carol” at 8 p.m. in Rodeheaver Auditorium. This production of Dicken’s classic tale is rich with thrilling ensemble music, alive with color and movement, and tells the enduring tale in a manner that people of all ages will enjoy. An additional performance will take place on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m.

All of the evening’s events are open to the public. Parking is available in the parking garage behind Rodeheaver Auditorium and on campus streets. Some campus streets will be closed for the event.
