GREENVILLE, S.C. (January 20, 2016) – Jonathan Holland, a graduate Euphonium Performance student at Bob Jones University, was recently named the Southern Division brass winner of the Young Artist Competition sponsored by the Music Teachers National Association.

Holland competed at the University of South Florida this past weekend where he and six other southern division state winners played a full 40 minute recital comprised of pieces from a variety of style periods. Undergraduate and graduate students from nine different states made up the southern division of the competition.

Dr. Ed Dunbar, Chairman of the Division of Music at BJU, said, “Jonathan is one of the hardest working students we have ever had, and I don’t think we have ever had a student make more progress in the course of his collegiate study. We’re very proud of his accomplishments.” Holland is one of only two BJU students to win this competition.

Holland, a native of Egg Harbor, New Jersey, will compete as a national finalist in the collegiate level competition in San Antonio, Texas, in April.
