GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 24, 2018) – Chaplain David M. Dersch, Jr., a 1985 graduate of Bob Jones University, has recently been promoted to colonel by the United States Air Force Reserve.
Colonel Dersch earned a BA (1984) and an MA (1985) in Bible from BJU, as well as a MDIV (1989) from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary and a DMin (2003) from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. In addition, Dersch graduated from the Air War College in 2017, where he earned a Master of Strategic Studies.
Dersch entered the Air Force Reserve Chaplaincy in 2002 and currently serves as the Individual Mobilization Assistant (IMA) to the Chief, Personnel and Readiness Division in the Air Force Chief of Chaplain’s Office at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
Previously, Dersch served as associate pastor at First Baptist Church of Sterling Heights, Michigan, and as the pastor of Open Door Baptist Church in Prattville, Alabama. In addition, Dersch served as a volunteer prison minister, police chaplain, hospital chaplain, hospice chaplain, and fire department chaplain for several years.
Dersch and his wife Marcia (a 1983 graduate of BJU) are residents of Greenville.
