GREENVILLE, S.C. (August 30, 2023) – The BJU Community Service Council will host an emergency Blood Connection Drive to increase blood supply for the victims of Hurricane Idalia. The drive will be held Thursday, Aug. 31, through Friday, Sept. 1, from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. in front of Rodeheaver Auditorium.
“We are thankful for the opportunity as a BJU community to assist those in the path of Hurricane Idalia by donating blood to supply the blood centers there,” said Dr. Matthew Weathers, director of the BJU Center for Leadership Development. “We hope our efforts will be a small part of the rescue effort for those suffering, and we will continue to pray for protection for those in the path of the storm.”
All donors will receive a $60 e-gift card. Donors are encouraged to sign up for an appointment.
Students, alumni and members of the public interested in donating blood are encouraged to eat iron-rich foods (i.e. meats, spinach, and broccoli), drink plenty of water, and eat a good meal the day they are donating.
