BJU Bruins Women’s Soccer and Men’s XC Teams Honored with NCCAA All-Scholar Team Award

Women's Soccer TeamGREENVILLE, S.C. (February 13, 2015) – The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) recently named the Bob Jones University Bruins women’s soccer team and men’s cross-country team as All-Scholar Teams for the Fall 2014 semester.

“I am very proud of these student athletes and their commitment to pursue high academic standards while competing in their sport,” Bruins athletics director Neal Ring said. “They have set a great example for us all to strive for in the classroom. Congratulations to both coaching staffs for encouraging a culture of academic success in their programs.”

The women’s soccer team finished the year with a team GPA of 3.48 and the men’s cross country team finished with a team GPA of 3.44. The qualifications for the award were for the team to maintain a GPA of at least 3.40. This is the first time a Bruins team has achieved the recognition.

Cross Country TeamThe women’s soccer roster consisted of 26 players and the men’s cross country roster included 10 runners. The Bruins seek to use the platform of intercollegiate sports as an avenue for ministry. On the field of play, in the classroom and in their personal lives, Bruins athletes seek to do all for the glory of God.
