GREENVILLE, S.C. (October 26, 2015) – Bob Jones University’s (BJU) Alumni Association named Mike Miller of Greenville as its 2015 Alumnus of the Year during the University’s recent homecoming festivities.

Miller graduated from BJU with a BS in Accounting in 1976. Our recipient left to enter the world of business, but stayed connected with his alma mater over the next 40 years.

In his first job at an insurance company, he was promoted to assistant manager of the agency branch. While there, he earned the Chartered Life Underwriter designation. In 1982, he co-founded PlanFIRST, a financial planning and asset management firm that has grown today to manage over $300 million in client assets.

He has also been involved in the Greenville community, serving as President of the Civitan Club, a board member of Grace Harbor Ministries, a church deacon and elder, and involved in various financial planning and professional associations.

Miller serves as host of Talking Money, a live, call-in radio show. He has been a financial news contributor with WYFF TV, including a month-long series as the News4 “Money Man,” and a frequent speaker at church, civic, and professional events.

As he involved himself in his church and community, he supported BJU by serving on the President’s Advisory Council, as a sponsor of the BJUSF Golf Tournament where he also sat on the tournament committee. He is a charter Bruins Booster and his firm is sponsor of the PlanFIRST Player of the Game during BJU sports webcasts.

Miller and his wife, Cathy, live in Greenville and have four adult children.
