Amelia Sumner, a senior at Bob Jones University and resident of Ellicott City, Maryland, is gaining valuable hands-on experience through an internship with Fit with Food, a nutrition-focused organization based in Ellicott City.
As an intern, Sumner creates digital content for the company’s blog and social media platforms, providing accessible health and nutrition resources to both clients and the wider online community. In addition to her content development work, she observes client sessions with registered dietitians, giving her direct insight into the daily responsibilities and impact of nutrition professionals.
“This has been a very helpful experience for me,” said Sumner. “I have gotten to see different kinds of dietitians as well as how to help people in all sorts of situations. It has given me a better understanding of what dietitians do on a daily basis to help people improve their health.”
As a Health Sciences major, Sumner’s internship is a key step in her preparation for a future career in dietetics, allowing her to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world setting while exploring the diverse roles of dietitians in client care and education.
